This qualification is aimed at supervisors who are required to
ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation.
Summary of Outcomes:
To achieve this unit a candidate
must:
Discuss the importance of supervision with regard to Health and
Safety in the workplace, by being able to: Discuss the role of the
supervisor.
Evaluate hazards and risks in the workplace and their possible
effects, by being able to: Discuss hazards and risks relating to
the environment of the workplace and their appropriate controls
Discuss hazards and risks relating to work equipment and their
appropriate controls
Discuss hazards and risks relating to fire and electricity in the
workplace and their appropriate controls
Determine hazards and risks likely to affect the occupational
health of individuals, by being able to:
Assess the risks due to substances hazardous to health and their
appropriate controls
Explain hazards and risks due to manual handling and methods for
reducing these risks
Evaluate the effect of noise and stress at work and methods for
controlling this.
